‘Disrespect’ to ‘Salang Sadar’: ASM lodges FIR against Badaruddin Ajmal

MORIGAON: Tension prevailed in Laharighat following a slanderous gesture on the traditional ‘Salang Sadar’ by AIUDF supremo and Dhubri Dhubri MP Badaruddin Ajmal at a public rally in Laharighat on Wednesday.

An FIR has been lodged against the AIUDF supremo over the controversy. According to allegations, Ajmal threw away the revered ‘Salang Chadar’ that was on his shoulder at a public rally at Laharighat in the Morigaon district. The people of Assam have a deep respect for ‘Salang Chadar’, a symbol of Assamese culture.

Members of the Asom Satra Mahasabha (ASM) lodged an FIR against Ajmal at the Morigaon Sadar Police Station. They have accused the AIUDF president of insulting the ‘Assamese nation’ by his actions in full public view.
