KOKRAJHAR: With an aim of generating employment and providing livelihood to unemployed youths, a district-level Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) was organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kajalgaon on Monday.
During the programme, Prabir Das, Deputy Director and CHD, Skill Enhancement Education & Development (SEED), BTC, made the participants aware of self-employment and the importance of skill training for any self-sustaining business.
Presentation on SANKALP and Skill Ecosystem was given by Ashok Kumar Baishya, Skill Project Manager (Finance and Accountants), Assam Skill Development Mission, while Putul Brahma, Director, SBI-RSETI, Chirang and Dr. Chandra Kumar Deka, Senior Scientist, KVK, Kajalgaon spoke in details about various services offered by both the Central and State governments, including Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY), through their inspiring and fruitful speeches. In his welcome address, Project Manager for Social Mobilization Pankaj Das hoped that such skill development workshops would be able to open up many opportunities to empower the youths. Around 200 students, including self- help groups of Chirang district, participated in the programme.
