Haflong: Attention of the District Magistrate has been drawn towards news reports in certain sections of media regarding the suicide case of one labourer at Altaf Tilla near Lower Haflong within the Haflong municipal area on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, Amitabh Rajkhowa has ordered magisterial inquiry to unearth the actual cause of the suicide and report will be submitted to the DC within three days. As per data recorded of the distributed relief on behalf of DDMA in Lower Haflong area, out of 344 households, the family of the deceased labourer was also benefitted like the rest on April 25, which was just two days before the occurrence of the unfortunate incident. The relief received by their family comprised of rice, dal, mustard oil and salt as per government norms.

Distribution of rice, dry vegetables like potatoes and onion, to all needy, including this area, was also done by the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council authority initiated by CEM Debolal Gorlosa in March and later in April again.

Under such circumstances when even the conscious citizens, NGOs and groups have been selflessly distributing relief around various parts of Dima Hasao, reporting of such incident without proper investigation is objectionable.
