District Tuberculosis Forum meet held in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: “Every Gaon Sabha must take attempt to generate awareness in order to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB),” said Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B. The DC who is also the Chairperson of the District TB Forum issued this instruction from the meet of the District TB Forum held in the conference hall of the Office of the Joint Director, District Health Services.

Notably, the meet was held as per suggestion forwarded by Lakhimpur Zila Parishad Constituency member Kabita Roy Saikia which commenced with the DC in the chair. The objectives of the event were explained by District TB Officer Dr. Jagadish Goswami. In his lecture, Dr. Goswami opined that extensive awareness was required to eradicate communicable diseases from society. In this regard he appealed to the health workers, voluntary organizations to come forward and extend cooperation to eradicate the disease.

From the chair, the DC further laid emphasis on creating awareness on the treatment system of the disease and called upon the TB Forum members to extend their humanitarian services and contributions in this regard. In the meet, the schemes and activities, awareness programs undertaken by Lakhimpur District TB Forum in order to eradicate the TB were displayed through a powerpoint presentation. Indian Medical Association, Lakhimpur unit president Dr. Ananda Dihingia, Koylamari Tea Estate medical officer NK Verma, ZPC member Kabita Roy Saikia also delivered a suggestive lecture in the meet wherein Joint Director-in-charge Dr. Gunin Gogoi, TB Forum members Prasanta Kumar Modak, Satyajit James, Rhitwik Gogoi were also present.
