Divisional Forest Officer Doomdooma Threatened by Miscreants

DIGBOI: Sensations gripped the Doomdooma forest department after Khadim Jaman Jinnah, the Divisional Forest Officer of Doomdoma, allegedly received repeated telephonic threat calls by miscreants on Wednesday evening for tightening the noose around illegal traders and racketeers by means of intensified vigilance and patrolling across the division.

Talking to The Sentinel, Jinnah said that a section of affected people had long been after him and were trying all means to defile him and the forest department for their vested interest. “Dragging me into insignificant controversy centering round baseless allegations on different fronts were intended to demoralize the forest personnel and officials of the department who have tightened the grip with zero tolerance to any act of illegality, thus intensifying operations round-the-clock,” he said.

According to him, he was threatened late night recently with repeated calls asking him if he would allow miscreants to continue with the illegal trade of forest resources across the division.

“I have immediately apprised the matter to the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia who encouraged me to go ahead with my responsibility and told me to take note of such calls in future for necessary legal proceedings,” said Jinnah.
