Diwali 2019: Lighting up Homes with Earthen Lamps

DEMOW: With just a few days left for Diwali, Hari Narayan Kumar’s family members of Demow Kushal Path are busying in making earthen lamps for Diwali.

Talking to this correspondent, Surendar Kumar, a family member of Hari Narayan Kumar, said that their family had been making the earthen lamps since the last 100 years in Demow and they were the oldest potters and first potters in Demow area. For this year, they had prepared more than 80,000 earthen lamps for Diwali and their earthen lamps were sold in Demow and Sivasagar. The family members of Hari Narayan Kumar are preparing the earthen lamps with the help of electric motor this time. A dozen of these earthen lamps costs Rs.10 and according to the size of the earthen lamps, the rate changes.
