Documentary On Children Suffering From Cerebral Palsy

LAKHIMPUR: Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, a social institution of Lakhimpur dedicated for the service of humanity, nature, language and culture, education and health, has taken up a move to feature a documentary on the children who are suffering from cerebral palsy (CP).

Cerebral palsy is a group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood with the symptoms of poor coordination, stiff muscles, weak muscles and tremor. There may be problems of sensation, vision, hearing, swallowing and speaking. Babies with CP often do not roll over, sit, crawl or walk as early as the other children of their age do.

Jiten Baruah, the director of Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, informed The Sentinel that his institution had taken up a series of programmes under Mangalmoy Niketan in order to create awareness on CP, to organize a platform to get together the parents of whose children were suffering from the ailments, to organize regular medical check-up and physiotherapy for the affected children, to create an environment for their physical, mental development. He added that the documentary, titled Jivanar Rang Bisari, would be an attempt to sensitize the masses on CP. It will also be an urge to the government seeking its attention to the CP-affected children on priority basis. The life of affected children, the mental agony of their parents, the social taboos and psyche and the advice of medical experts regarding the issue will be the major subject matters of the documentary.
