Doomdooma Press Club condemn 'misbehavior' of SI towards scribe

TINSUKIA: The Doomdooma Press Club (DPC) along with other organizations have strongly condemned highhandedness of a Sub-Inspector of Doomdooma PS and alleged misbehaviour to Nuwantik Orang, an executive member of DPC and local correspondent of a satellite news channel on Saturday afternoon.

Narrating the incident, Orang told media persons that he was taking visuals from his mobile after police apprehended a youth with some amount of opium at Jonaki Path TinialiRupai Siding when SI LunkhanLhouvem objected even after introducing himself as journalist. Lhouvem used derogatory remarks against journalist and snatched his mobile though later returned with the intervention of Moni Mohan Koch OC Doomdooma PS who was present at the site, said Orang.

Meanwhile, Doomdooma Press Club on Sunday handed over a letter to the OC, Doomdooma PS seeking a proper action against the SI. The copy of the letter was also sent to SP, Tinsukia and to the president and the secretary of Tinsukia District Journalists' Association. It is learnt, Tinsukia SP ShiladityaChetia has taken up the matter seriously. The DPC president AnujKalita and secretary ManojBaruah told that if no action was taken against the SI by higher-up, DPC would resort to democratic agitation in the coming days. AASU, All Moran Students' Union, AJYCP, ATTSA and various other organisations also condemned the incident.
