Doomdooma residents decry irregular garbage collection

DOOMDOOMA: At a time when Swachha Bharat Abhiyan declared by the Prime Minister has received top priority, the waste disposal of Doomdooma Municipal Board near the Smashan Ghat just opposite Doomdooma River along the Doomdooma-Phillobari road has made the whole area so filthy that it has become unbearable for pedestrians as well as local residents.

As many religious temples and schools are situated just near it, the locals have expressed their strong displeasure at the callous attitude of the Municipal Board towards maintaining cleanliness of the town, so essential for health and hygiene. Now the heaps of garbage accumulated there over a period of time has overflowed and lay scattered on the roadside.

The job of waste disposal has been entrusted to an NGO by the Municipal Board. But their incompetent waste disposal has resulted in garbage accumulation in the town. So the conscious section of people have urged the Municipal Board to take prompt remedial measures in this regard.
