Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samity Celebrated 'Advent of Autumn'

DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samity celebrated 'Advent of Autumn' on Saturday with songs, poem recitation, speeches and felicitation of its members.
The meeting, which was chaired by its president Dr Meena Devi Baruah, was enlivened by presentation of songs by Jyostna Buragohain, Aparna Senapati, Kakali Devi Baruah, Runumoni Dutta Bhuyan and Mira Saikia. In between it was followed by recitation of poems composed appropriately for the occasion by Indu Dutta Ujir, Boby Bora and Dr Meena Devi Baruah. Speeches were also delivered by Pranita Handique, Dipti Thakur Goswami, Dibyalata Deka, Anjali Bora, Manju Nath and Renu Gogoi. Anju Konwar delivered a speech on an off-beat subject like Kaziranga Silk and Dye Festival.
The chief attraction of the afternoon was felicitation of Rupeswari Gohain Dangoria who was selected for the State Literary Pension this year and Aparna Senapati who was selected for district-level award of competent teachers on September 5.
