JAMUGURIHAT: Chamar, a collection of Nepali short story book composed by an emerging writer Dr Dhundiraj Upadhyaya was released by Dr Chinta Mani Sharma, president of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS) at a function organized on the occasion of the death anniversary of the author’s father. It was held at Gamiripal residence of the author today with Dakhina Gajurel, president of the Bagamrit Sahitya Samiti in the chair.
The book release function convened by the Bagamrit Sahitya Samiti in collaboration with Nepali Kabi Mancha, Jamugurihat began with illumination of a ceremonial lamp in front of the portrait of Khemraj Upadhyaya, the father of the author by Padma Sarma, a retired teacher. Releasing the book Dr Chinta Mani Sharma briefly traced the contribution of Dr Dhundiraj Upadhayaya. The meeting was addressed by Sharanan Deva Nath, Purna Kumar Sarma and Anjan Baskota as appointed speaker, chief guest and distinguished guest respectively.
Earlier, Chakrapani Sarma, secretary of Nepali Kabi Mancha, Jamugurihat forwarded a welcome address. Poets including Narad Nirola, Mahin Acharya, Parinita Devi and Madhab Subedi recited self-composed poems in between the programme. The meeting was attended by Moti Sarma, Dal Bahadur Chetry, Churamani Sarma, Prem Acharya, Bala Kumari Devi, Naren Pokhrel among others. Dr Dhundiraj Upadhyaya forwarded a vote of thanks. Notably, Chamar is the 10th book penned by Dr Dhundiraj Upadhyaya.
