BOKAKHAT: On the occasion of the silver jubilee celebration of the Numaligarh Refinery Branch Xahitya Xabha, the play ‘Itihasat Chakari Pheti’ (Breaking Chains in History), written by former President of Axam Xahitya Xabha and eminent playwright Dr Kuladhar Saikia and directed by noted filmmaker Upakul Bordoloi, was staged on July 26 at the Sarbajanin Kendra premises of Kunzakanan, Numaligarh Refinery.
The drama, based on events from Assam’s history, was inaugurated by Girish Kumar Bora, Technical Director of the refinery, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Just before the play began, the Numaligarh Refinery Branch Xahitya Xabha warmly felicitated Dr Kuladhar Saikia (former Director General of Assam police), director Upakul Bordoloi, noted writer Leena Sharma, and IAS officer Aranyak Saikia.
The evening’s proceedings were hosted by branch Secretary Pranabjyoti Saikia and presided over by Dr Kajal Saikia, who expressed gratitude to all.
The cast of the play, including Nava Kumar Barua, Pawan Mahanta, Montu Saikia, Basanta Saikia, Sudipta Bharali, Montu Gogoi, Pallav Barua, Amrit Pran, Moni Bordoloi, and Pallabi Phukan, were felicitated by the branch Xahitya Xabha for their performances.
