

Tezpur: Remembering Dr. Purna Narayan Sinha as a true leader of the masses, a philanthropist and former MP, who sacrificed everything for the cause of the nation and people, Chilarai Sena, Tezpur Chapter observed his 19th death anniversary at Lachit Chawk Tiniali. The programme started with the lighting of the earthen lamp by Superintendent of Dekargaon Railway Station Khirod Sinha and it was followed by floral tributes to Sinha paid by Director of Human Rights Action Council Assam Dr Paras Moni Sinha, Member of Chilarai Sena Bikram Das, Journalist Arup Kalita and many dignitaries.
The programme began with a Dr Bhupen Hazarika song presented through guitar by upcoming Singer Dhurba Bhardwaj and it concluded by a song of Zubeen Garg.
During the occasion, Khirod Sinha said that he was a great patriot but his greatest quality was that he taught thousands of people how to love one’s motherland. He was a person who was always ready to sacrifice for the better cause and for assisting the whole section of the society. He further added that Dr Purna Narayan Sinha established seven villages of landless cultivators after agitating for the lands and worked for the uplift of Harijan and tribal welfare, propagating national integration of people living in Assam and other eastern states.
