Draft photo electoral rolls published under Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) has already notified time schedules for the preparation and publication of the Photo Electoral Rolls, on the line of the Photo Electoral Rolls of the Election Commission of India, for conducting the election to the 79 Municipal Boards of the State and the election to the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council (TKAC) in 2022 by issuing separate notifications.

The ASEC designated November 16 for the publication of the Preliminary/Draft Photo Electoral Rolls for holding the election to the Municipal Board by issuing notification vide No. SEC. 145/2019/360 on October 28. On the other hand, the same day was designated for the publication of the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls for conducting the election to the TKAC as per notification issued vide No. SEC. 84/2020/45 on October 25.

In pursuance of these notifications, the draft electoral rolls for all the constituencies of TKAC under Lakhimpur district were published on Tuesday. Similarly, the draft electoral rolls for all Municipal Boards under the district were also published on the same day. In this connection, a meeting was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office of the district. Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan chaired the meeting wherein representatives of the political parties and Election Registration Officers of the council election and municipal board election were present.

In the same meeting, it was also declared that the election to the North Lakhimpur Municipal Board and Narayanpur Municipal Board would be held as per the notifications issued by the State Government vide No. UDD(M) 16/2020/18 dated February 21 and No. UDD (M)1 16/2020/16 dated August 24 respectively regarding the delimitation of the wards under both municipal bodies.

TEZPUR: The draft electoral rolls of all four Municipal Boards under Sonitpur district - Tezpur, Dhekiajuli, Rangapara and Jamugurihat Municipal Boards - with January 1, 2021 as the qualifying date, were published on Tuesday.

The draft electoral rolls will be available for viewing at the respective Municipal Board offices, Circle Offices, DC office and also at the respective police stations in respect of Dhekiajuli, Rangapara and Jamugurihat Municipal Boards. The last date for filing claims and objections is November 26, 2021.
