Draft voter list for Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election released in Tamulpur

GORESWAR: The draft voter list for the 2025 Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election was officially released at the conference hall of the Tamulpur District Commissioner’s office on Tuesday.

The event was presided over by Pankaj Chakravarty, District Commissioner and District Election Officer of Tamulpur. He urged the citizens to stay informed about the draft list and to submit applications for corrections in case of any errors, objections, or claims by August 5.

The draft voter list will be displayed at the District Commissioner’s Office, the offices of the Circle Officers, and Block Development Officers. Additionally, it will also be accessible through the BLOs (Booth Level Officers) and on the ‘OERMS’ portal.

Tamulpur district comprises five council constituencies namely No. 26-Darrangajuli (ST), No. 27-Nagrijuli (Non-ST), No. 28-Goybari (ST), No. 29-Suklai Serfang (ST), and No. 30-Goreswar (ST).

The number of polling stations and voters in each constituency respectively are 75 polling stations with 34,518 male voters and 34,444 female voters and in total 68,962 voters in Darrangajuli BTC constituency, 62 polling stations with 28,795 male voters, 28,678 female voters and in total 57,473 voters in Nagrijuli constituency, 87 polling stations with 41,402 male voters, 40,736 female voters and in total 82,138 voters in Goybari constituency, 68 polling stations with 30,332 male voters, 29,622 female voters and in total 59,954 voters in Suklai Serfang Constituency, and 90 polling stations with 40,726 male voters, 41,452 female voters, 1 other and in total 82,179 voters in Goreswar BTC constituency.

The combined total number of voters across all five council constituencies is 3,50,706, with a current total of 382 polling stations. However, this number may increase once the final voter list is released.

District Election Officer Pankaj Chakravarty stated that the goal was to ensure an accurate, transparent, and impartial voter list based on active citizen participation in the current draft process. He further mentioned that the final voter list would be published according to the schedule set by the Election Commission, after the resolution of all claims and objections.

According to a press release issued by Public Relations Officer Bijoy Bezbaruah, officials of the District Commissioner’s office, representatives of various registered political parties, and officers and staff from relevant departments were present at the event.
