TINSUKIA: Following reports of unabated pilferage of green tea leaves from several tea gardens under Doomdooma revenue circle, the Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association (ATTSA) carried out extensive drive against the pilferage and in one such operation, the ATTSA activists spotted a temporary shed in an abandoned land at Holowtup Gaon close to Hukanguri TE.
The activists observed huge quantity of pilfered green leaves being stored along with tea appliances. Later, police seized 200 kg of green leaves, two spray machines, pesticides, fertilizers, besides other items and nabbed two persons, identified as Nomol Duarah and Nathanial while two others managed to escape. The police, along with ATTSA activists, during search operation in the vicinity also detected an illegal saw mill with stockpiled logs.
