PATHSALA: Driving school owners are facing financial hardship due to the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has become very difficult for the owners and drivers to earn their bread and butter as people are not coming to learn driving in the driving schools.

Paras Das, owner of JRD Driving School and a resident of Pathsala said, "It is very difficult to live like this. It's been two years, we are not able to fulfil our basic needs. Our earnings have come down to zero."

He added, "It is difficult to pay money to the insurance companies. We are facing financial crisis. In the present situation, we must strictly follow the COVID-19 protocol laid down by the government to deal with the pandemic. But I request the government to give us some relief." Noted social worker of Bajali, Giridhar Choudhury said, "There are a number of driving schools in the State and all of them are facing acute financial crisis. They should get relief from paying their dues to insurance companies as they are not earning anything now."
