Drug addict youth kills mother in Hailakandi

SILCHAR: In a shocking incident, a youth killed his mother in Hailakandi on Thursday morning. Police source said, Jayashree Debroy, 62, a retired government employee was murdered by her 21-year-old adopted son Trideep after she denied to pay him Rs 20 thousand. Police had already arrested Trideep following an FIR lodged by their relatives. Sources said, Trideep was allegedly a drug addict and used to torture his mother to cough up cash for buying narcotic substances.

On Thursday morning, Trideep demanded his mother's ATM card as he needed Rs 20 thousand. Jayashree, a divorcee, denied him and that led to a quarrel between the mother and son. At one point, Trideep allegedly strangulated his mother to death.

Being informed by the relatives of the Debroy, police reached their residence at Toll Road of Hailakandi and arrested Trideep who had reportedly tried twice to commit suicide during medical test. Neighbours said, Trideep used to torture her mother for money he needed for buying drugs.
