BONGAIGAON: In a major crackdown of a drug racket, the New Bongaigaon Government Railway Police (GRP) seized a huge amount of drugs on Wednesday from 12423 Down Rajdhani express. Talking to the press Sanjib Choudhury, I/C, New Bongaigaon GRP, said that they conducted a search operation in the running train, based on specific information about the transposing of drugs. “During search operation, we recovered about 264 grams of drugs from three people who were moving to Bihar from Dimapur in the Coach A-1 (AC-2 Tier) in Rajdhani Express. The three people, namely Mridula Devi, Aswini Kumar, and Rekha Devi, who were travelling in reserved seats of AC-2 tier coach of Rajdhani, were arrested. Then on reaching Kokrajhar, we handed over the case to Kokrajhar GRP,” he said.

“These three people, originally from Bihar, were carrying 264 grams of drugs in 22 soap cases. According to their confession, they were assured of being paid Rs 1,500 for every soap case they trafficked from Dimapur to Bihar. We suspect that a big racket is operating behind this drug trafficking. And so we are continuing our investigation,” I/C Choudhury added.
