Drugs worth Rs 5.5 crore seized in Silchar; Manipur peddler arrested

Silchar: Yet in another successful operation, Cachar police recovered huge quantity of drugs worth Rs 5.5 crores and arrested a Manipur based drug peddler. SP Numol Mahatta informed that, on Friday Cachar Police launched a special operation against the illegal transportation of narcotic substance at the Silchar- Aizwal Bypass, Ram Nagar  and intercepted one vehicle bearing Regd No AS 05/E 3900 (Bolero) coming from Churachandpur, Manipur. Police apprehended one person namely Jangminien Baite, 22, a resident of Churachandpur, Manipur.

Subsequently during the search the police team recovered 100 soap cases weighing about 1.109 kilograms concealed inside specially made chambers in the vehicles. The price of the psychotropic substances is about Rs.5.55 crores in the black market, Mahatta claimed. He further added that the psychotropic substance had been illegally transported from Churachandpur.
