Drugs worth Rs 8 lakh seized by Gauripur Police of Dhubri district

DHUBRI: Acting on a tip off, Gauripur Police of Dhubri district arrested two persons with 60 packets of Yaba tablets which they were carrying in a four wheeler. The accused have been identified as - Anarul Sk and Ajijul Islam. According to reports, the accused were coming from Chagolia towards Gauripur. The police have also seized the four wheeler bearing no AS 17 G 5709 in which they were travelling.

The 60 packets of Yaba tablets contain approximately 200 tablets each. The estimated value of the seized drug is around Rs 8 lakh. Further, it can be mentioned that one of the culprits tried to escape when the four wheeler was intercepted. When he was chased, the culprit threw brick pieces towards the police personnel. On this one of our constable namely Amzad Ali sustained minor injuries. Hence, police team had to fire one round of ammunition to take control of the situation. No causality or injury has occurred due to firing, a police source informed.
