Ducklings of hybrid variety distributed among 130 youths in Dhemaji

LAKHIMPUR: In view of generating self-employment in the flood affected areas in Dhemaji district, ducklings of hybrid variety named Chara-Chambali were distributed by Paul Hamelin Foundation, a London based international voluntary organization and Rural Volunteers' Center (RVC) of Assam on Saturday.

The ducklings were distributed among 130 unemployed youths, trained under Krishi Vigayan Kendra, Dhemaji, living at five villages under Murkongselek Development Block and five villages under Sissi Borgaon Development Block. The villages under Murkongselek Development Block are- No. 1 Uluwoni, No. 2 Uluwoni, Burhisuti, Nalapara, Majgaon-Joypur and Uluwoni Molan under Ramdhan-Dikhari Gaon Panchayat. On the other hand, the five villages under Sissi Borgaon Development Block are- Ajarbari, Arnai Chapori Gaon under Muktiyar Gaon Panchayat and Nalbari Hajong, Nalbari Banai, Nepali Pothar under Simenmukh Gaon Panchayat. Along with 20 ducklings to each beneficiaries, 13 from each villages, required fodder, vitamins and medicines were also distributed among them. Attending the event, RVC secretary Dharmakanta Karky said that the ducklings were distributed among the 130 youths as part of three-year-long socio-economic development programmes undertaken by the Paul Hamelin Foundation and RCV at Murkongselek and Sissi Borgaon Development Blocks under Dhemaji district.

He added that the organization would adopt Bodo paddy farming programmes and weaving schemes for the unemployed youths of the areas in the upcoming days. Jonai Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Dr. Kishor Kaman, Ganatantrik Surakshya Mancha general secretary Tolan Sonowal, Aanchalik Panchayat member From Ramdhan-Dikhari Gaon Panchayat Tarun Ram Goyari were among those who were present in the event.
