GOLAGHAT: At a time when the additional District Magistrate passed a prohibitory order against plying of dumpers and heavy vehicles from Sarupathar to Golaghat connecting road, most of the stone, sand gravel-carrying dumpers without follwoing the magistrate's order regularly ply on Golaghat to Jamuguri road.

The local people alleged that the dumper owners and heavy weight vehicles do not obey the orders of administration and run their business by ignoring the public interest.

It has been mentioned that Additional District Magistrate Lakhimi Dutta issued an order U/S 144 CrPC vide No. GJ.10/2020/ Pt-III on dated 08/09/2020 stating that whereas it has been made to appear that the dumpers, carrying sand gravels etc from Uriamghat to Golaghat, are found to have been plying on the PWD road connecting Golaghat-Jamuguri-Sarupathar, causing hindrance to the public movement at the peak traffic hours; whereas, plying of dumpers and heavy vehicles is also causing hindrance to the widening and repairment works of the road carried out by PWD, thereby causing likelihood of road accidents. Hence, in exercise of powers conferred upon Additional District Magistrate, Golaghat US 144 CrPC prohibited the movement of all dumpers and heavy vehicles during the peak traffic hours-8 am to 11 am in the morning and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the evening in the Golaghat-Jamuguri-Sarupathar road. But till date it was seen that several sand gravels carrying dumpers and heavy weight vehicles have been plying in all the time by violating the prohibitory order.
