e-commerce website launched for SHGs under Bangaon Development Block

BOKO: To help the self-help groups (SHGs) of tribal and remote areas under the Bangaon Development Block, BDO Gulshan Sultana and her team took a great initiative on Wednesday – to launch an e-commerce website, namely www.shgstore.in.

In the programme, Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed took part as a chief guest. The grand opening programme was presided over by the Bongaon Block Development Officer, Gulshan Sultana.

She said that through this website, SHGs can now sell their products like silk products, handmade bamboo products, hand bags and ethnic food in the international markets and they will benefit from the website. The website will be run by the block office and it will tie up with international shopping websites, so the women of the area will get more benefits. In the website, cash on delivery, online cash payments have been made available for the buyers. She also added that all kinds of products will be displayed on the website along with their details.

A day-long local products mela was also organized in the office premises, which was inaugurated by MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed. In the mela, local self-help groups had displayed and sold their products. At the end of the day-long programme, the block office felicitated the SHGs.

MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed said that the website will help the villagers. The motto of the e-commerce website 'Think globally, act locally' is a very good initiative by the Bongaon Block Development Office. Through this website, now villagers will be able to sell their products in the international market also, he said.
