E-Rickshaw Driver Held For ‘Molestation’ At Makum, Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: A Class V student was allegedly sexually assaulted by an e-rickshaw driver at Makum in Tinsukia district on Tuesday.

The e-rickshaw, without bearing any registration number, was dropping passengers at different destinations and the last passenger was the lone girl who was returning from school. The driver, identified as Papu Dey, aged 43 years and father of a teenaged daughter, taking advantage of her loneliness allegedly molested her.

Following complaint from the guardian of the victim, the Makum police arrested Papu Dey and registered a case bearing number 166/19 u/s 354 A and POSCO- 8.
