
JORHAT: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with 49 countries' High Commissioners and Ambassadors, will arrive at Jorhat Airport in Assam this evening on a special flight from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi. The visit of the delegation is to highlight the cultural heritage of Assam as well as invite investment opportunities to the state.
The distinguished guests will attend a grand Jhumur dance performance titled "Jhumoir Binandini" at Sarusajai Stadium tomorrow, followed by participation in the two-day Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, scheduled for February 25-26 in Khanapara.
Upon landing at Jorhat Airport, the delegation will head to Kaziranga, where they will stay overnight at the Royal De Cassa Hotel. The next day, they will embark on an elephant safari at Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its one-horned rhinoceros. The team will then head back to Jorhat Airport to board a chartered flight to Guwahati for the summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to arrive in Guwahati tomorrow for attending the Jhumoir Binandini performance at 6 PM and inauguration of the summit on February 25.
Besides, leading industrialists Gautam Adani, Mukesh Ambani, and N Chandrasekaran will reach Assam on February 25 to participate in important deliberations at the summit, which hopes to make Assam a leading investment hub. The event also seeks to build on the state's recent cultural achievements, including a record-setting Bihu dance performance last year.
