BOKAJAN: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru accredited the Eastern Karbi Anglong College (EKAC) at Bokajan in Karbi Anglong district with Grade B+ recently. The college secured a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.58 on a 7-point scale in its first cycle of accreditation.
Established in the year 1997 with the unstinting contribution of the local public, the college was provincialized by the Government of Assam in 2013. According to the college officials, this college is the first ever college in the hill district of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts to have received the NAAC accreditation.
"A three-member peer team of NAAC visited the college on August 10 and August 11 to assess the various academic and infrastructural facilities of the college on the basis of which the certificate of accreditation was awarded," EKAC Principal Dr Anil Chandra Das said.
"The peer team especially appreciated the institution for its clean and green campus, the efficient teaching-learning process and also applauded the management for adopting a village named Jang-et-Gaon nearby. The team also spoke on the volume of the cultural sensitivity upheld by the institution and suggested further development of the existing infrastructure of the college," the Principal added.
