Education Minister Ranoj Pegu stresses need for people’s participation in Arohan scheme

SIVASAGAR: State Education Minister and the Guardian Minister of Sivasagar district, Dr Ranoj Pegu participated in a programme of the Arohan scheme of the Education Department organized at the Sivasagar Yubadal on Wednesday and stressed the need for people’s participation and involvement of citizens in the scheme.

The minister said that the successful implementation of government schemes was possible when the citizens kept monitoring them. With a little human responsibility, citizens can improve the educational aspects of the students and lead the society on the path of development through the Arohan scheme, he said.

Through this Arohan scheme, a mentor provides good advice to the student by assisting the student in his academic, emotional and other aspects. Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar, Kamaljyoti Gogoi delivered the welcome address at the meeting while Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav, in his speech said that it was necessary to provide proper guidance at the right time in the academic life of a student.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Shubhrajyoti Bora along with various mentors of the scheme. The winners of the debate competitions were awarded prizes at the meeting.

Later, the Minister took stock of the progress of various schemes being implemented under the two departments, especially with the officials of Panchayat & Rural Development and Public Health Engineering Departments of the district at the Sukafa Conference Hall of the DC’s office, Sivasagar.

The meeting, which was held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav, mainly discussed the MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Inter-State Labour Migration, and various issues and challenges faced by block development officers while performing their duties in their respective areas. Issues such as government land available for establishment of government institutions, reservoir conservation, Jal Jeevan Mission, construction of toilets in private houses, solid waste management etc were discussed in detail.

The meeting was also attended by Sivasagar Zila Parishad president Dhrubajyoti Maut, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Aswini Doley, Additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma, Mayur Borgohain, Nityananda Kalita, block development officers, officials of Panchayat & Rural Development Department and Public Health Engineering Department.
