Education Minister Ranoj Pegu To Announce Two Bills At Assam Assembly

GUWAHATI: The Assam Legislative Assembly will receive at least two bills on Monday.

The budget session for the Assam Legislative Assembly is in its seventh day today, and two measures pertaining to the education department will be presented to the assembly.

A discussion on the budget will be held at the assembly after a question-and-answer period. The following two bills will be presented at the assembly:

Bill 2023 for Assam's Elementary and Secondary School Teachers

A bill from 2023 called The Assam College Workers (Provincialization Amendment)

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu of Assam will present the two proposals. The state budget for the fiscal year 2023–24 was submitted to the parliament by Assam's finance minister, Ajanta Neog, on March 16.

According to Neog, the budget addressed every socioeconomic factor while putting a specific emphasis on the welfare of women and the general populace.

Ajanta Neog, the Assam Finance Minister, stated during the presentation of the state budget that every village should observe Village Foundation Day in order to invigorate community spirit and foster a sense of belonging.

"This occasion will provide a chance to discuss a shared vision and plan for the community in accordance with regional developmental demands."

According to Neog, each town would get a symbolic gift of Rs 5000 to commemorate this foundation day.

The BJP-led administration, according to Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, has conducted a full-scale fight against the drug epidemic. She stated that as of March 2, 2023, 5,191 cases had been filed under the NDPS Act, and 8,632 drug traffickers had been taken into custody.


Neog claimed that during the current administration, traffickers' possession of 221 kg of heroin, 67,864 kg of ganja, and 3,317 kg of poppy straw was recovered.

In response to the state's protracted financial problems, the Assam government has allocated roughly Rs 550 crore for the state's tea business.

Finance Minister Ajanta Neog stated that the Assam Tea Industry Special Incentives Plan will also be improved to provide relief to tea workers when presenting the state budget.
