Eight persons injured in a road accident at Tamulpur

Tamulpur: Eight persons were injured in a road accident at Tamulpur on the Rangia-Tamulpur-Bhutan road on Sunday evening at about 4 pm in the district of Baksa.

The accident took place in front of the Barkhopa Petrol Pump of Tamulpur when a tempo bearing registration number AS-01-C- 6272 collided with a Swift Desire bearing registration number AS-01-DR- 0943. While the tempo was moving towards Rangia from Kumarikata via Tamulpur, it collided the Swift Dzire which was moving towards Tamulpur from the Rangia side. In the accident, eight passengers were seriously injured.

Local people informed Tamulpur Police. On receiving the information, a team from Tamulpur Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the injured persons. They were shifted to Tamulpur Primary Health Centre with the help of local people and a local correspondent, Ramen Das.

The injured persons have been identified as Swdamsa Boro (27) of Dwarkuchi, Pratima Sarkar (23) and Parul Sarkar (45) of Jalpaiguri, Narayan Das (38), Bijoy Das (45) and Amulya Das (43) of Garoghuttu, Tiken Paul (35) of Binowapur and Dipika Nag (22) of Kampur (Nowgaon). All injured persons were treated at Tamulpur Primary Health Centre. Swadmsa Boro, Dipika Nag and Pratima Sarkar were seriously injured so they were referred to GMCH for better treatment.
