Election in Biswanath district conducted peacefully

Biswanath Chariali: The Lok Sabha poll was held peacefully on Thursday in Biswanath Sadar and Gohpur subdivisions in Biswanath district. However, the election was still going on in some of the polling stations till filing of this report and is expected to be over by 8 pm. According to the official sources, around 77.47 per cent voters exercised their franchise in Biswanath LAC area while it was around 77.24 per cent in Behali LAC area and 71.22 per cent in Gohpur subdivision.

Meanwhile, polling personnel were removed from their duty in a polling station in Gohpur subdivision when Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief Ripun Borah reported to the SDO (C), Gohpur that the election process was going on openly without any voting compartment in the centre.
