MANGALDAI: Darrang Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer for the 8 Mangaldoi HPC, Ghanashyam Dass on Tuesday issued election notification. With this notice the official process has begun for filing nomination papers to the Mangaldoi Lok Sabha constituency which will go for polls in the second phase on April 18.

The duly filled-up nomination papers will be received up to 3 pm on March 26 while the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers has been fixed on March 29. As per the notice, nomination may be submitted by any candidate or any of his or her proposers to the Returning Officer or to the Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Assistant Returning Officer Hari Prasad Bora at room no.1 in the first floor of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Darrang between 11 am and 3 pm of any working day till March 26. No nomination paper was submitted on the first day of the process on Tuesday.

The 8 Mangaldoi HPC consists of a total of 10 Assembly segments in four different districts, namely Darrang, Udalguri, Kamrup rural and Nalbari. The HPC till February 6 has recorded a total of 17,75,180 electors in comparison to 15,15,676 electors in the last Lok Sabha poll in 2014.

Out of the total electors, the male and female electors have been recorded as 9,12,365 and 8,62,799 respectively. These electorates are going to exercise their constitutional right in a total of 2,353 polling stations of the HPC.
