Electioneering gains momentum in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG: Though not a single nomination has been filed till date, electioneering gained momentum in Dima Hasao immediately after the declaration of party tickets by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress (INC), people claimed.

Political observers said that this time the election to the 16 Haflong (ST) constituency would be very interesting and unprecedented as a neck-to-neck fight was expected between the INC and BJP. Three candidates are preparing for the poll battle. From BJP, Nandita Gorlosa, from INC Nirmal Langthasa and from Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP), a less known party in the district, Khandan Daulagupu will be contesting. One or two candidates are likely to contest the election as independent candidates and the election scenario will be clear only after the date of scrutiny of the nominations.
