Employee of A Revenue Circle office Arrested on Charge of Molestation

MANGALDAI: A State government employee of a Revenue Circle office in Nalbari district has been arrested by the police on the charge of molestation and assault on the womanhood of a minor girl on the night of January 1. The arrested accused person has been identified as one Tridip Barman (32) son of late Prafulla Barman of village Sripur under Ghograpara Police Station in Nalbari district and he has been serving as a Lat Mandal in Pacchim Nalbari Revenue Circle office at Chamata of the district.

According to the allegation, on the night of January 1 at around 9 pm, a family comprising of the parents with one minor daughter and minor son entered a roadside restaurant ‘Haisal Resort’ near Borjhar of Barama area in Nalbari district and after dinner, they were about to leave the restaurant by 9.55 pm. A group of five unruly youths were seen drinking in the open courtyard of the restaurant through the restaurant did not possess any license for sell or consumption of liquor or wine. All of a sudden, one of the youths of the unruly gang quite in an inebriated stage caught hold of the right hand of the minor girl and put a kiss on her hand. The helpless family was highly astonished at this unexpected sexual atrocity on the minor girl and fearing to confront these unruly youths, had left the place.

On the next morning the aggrieved father of the minor girl informed about the unfortunate incident to Additional Director General of Police (Administration) Dr. LR Vishnoi and Additional Director General of Police (Security) Harmit Singh and both the senior officials took the matter very seriously and accordingly instructed the Superintendent of Police Nalbari to find out the culprits.

Superintendent of Police, Nalbari Shiladitya Chetia without wasting a single moment geared up the district police. At the same time, Officer in Charge of Nalbari Sadar Police Station Inspector Tapan Kalita on the basis of a vital clue finally arrested the prime accused from his residence at Ghograpara within twenty-four hours at around 2.30 pm on January 3. The Nalbari police have arrested him in connection with Nalbari PS case No. 7/19 under section 354 of Indian Penal Code read with section 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and produced the arrested accused before the Judicial court today who remanded him for judicial custody in Nalbari District Jail.

The police have also seized the vehicle bearing registration number AS 14 F 1072 used by the arrested accused. Significantly, the arrested accused Tridip Barman -father of a two years old girl child have confessed the crime he had committed upon an innocent minor girl.
