LAKHIMPUR: The Dhemaji district unit of Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS) has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the necessary steps to evacuate the Indian students who are still stranded in war-affected Ukraine and thereby to provide relief to the their parents.

In this connection, the organization submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister. In the memorandum, signed by Dhemaji unit MASS secretary-in charge Baikuntha Hazarika, the organization appreciated the Prime Minister for his steps taken in connection with Russia-Ukraine War.

"We are highly obliged for the bold and diplomatic decision taken by you during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. You have been doing your best to evacuate the Indian students from Ukraine and bring them back to our country. It is really a praiseworthy work," the memorandum stated lauding the Prime Minister.

Through the same memorandum, the organization appealed to the Prime Minister to take immediate steps to evacuate the rest of the students from Assam as well as of the nation, still stranded in Ukraine.

"At present, many students from Assam and other parts of India are trapped in Ukraine and are suffering in hardship. It is known from social media that they are even tortured by the Ukraine Army. So, we request you to take immediate necessary step to evacuate the Indian students from Ukraine and to give relief to the awaiting parents," the memorandum added.
