Guwahati: The Nagaon Police on Tuesday arrested an expelled leader of the All Assam Minority Student's Union (AAMSU) for allegedly carrying an unlicensed firearm inside the premises of the Nagaon Superintendent of Police office.

As per reports, the leader identified as Kamruz Jaman Sarkar entered the office building with a firearm.

The police seized a .32 bore pistol along with 6 rounds of .32 mm ammunition, two mobile phones, and a car from his possession.

While interacting with media persons over the same, Superintendent of Police (SP) Nagaon, Leena Doley said that he is one of the most wanted criminals as per police records.

''Several cases against Kamruz have been filed at several police stations in Nagaon and Hojai districts. He has also been involved in unlawful acts such as extortion, robbery, and land grabbing in the district,'' she added.

She further said that in this case, the investigation is ongoing, adding, ''We are attempting to figure out how many other charges have been filed against him."
