TINSUKIA: In a day-long excise raid by Margherita and Digboi Excise Department, in association with Digboi police and CRPF at Pawai Forest Village on the outskirts of Digboi, a huge quantity of illicit liquor on Monday were destroyed. Approximately 16,500 litres of fermented wash, 12,000 litres of illicit liquor, 15 liquor manufacturing machinery and 800 kg of molasses were destroyed besides 40 kg of Potash Alum (phitkari) and 300 kg of Urea were also seized. Both phitkari and urea were being used as ingredients in making illicit liquor (Chulai). A total of 14 cases were registered. The Deputy Commissioner and I/c of Biswanath subdivision reviewed the status and implementation of all schemes and programmes in the subdivision. He also emphasized timely completion of all projects and schemes within the timeline.
