Expenditure Observers hold meeting with police, surveillance teams in Tezpur

TEZPUR: Expenditure Observers for Tezpur Election District, Prasoon Kabra and AEP Dukuriaon Monday held a meeting with Nodal Officer of Police, all constituency magistrates, assistant expenditure observers, Flying Squad/ Static Surveillance teams along with attached police officers at the District Library auditorium. Asking the teams to ramp up their surveillance activities, Expenditure Observer Prasoon Kabra asked them to be vigilant and strict in discharging their duties so that no cash or goods could be used to influence the elections in any way. He also asked the Additional DC and i/c Expenditure Monitoring Cell, Sanjib Doloi to sensitize bank officials and share necessary guidelines by the ECI for strict monitoring.

Expenditure Observer AEP Dukuria said that any suspicious activity should be viewed seriously and in the absence of any documentary proof/ evidence seizure should be made right away without exception. He also asked the police officials to intensify the raids against illicit liquor.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Manvendra Pratap Singh also interacted with the surveillance teams in the evening. The Flying Squad/ Static Surveillance teams also apprised the Observers about issues they were facing in carrying out their duties and the Observers made various suggestions regarding the same and asked Additional DC and i/c Expenditure Monitoring Cell, Sanjib Doloi and Superintendent of Police Mugdhajyoti Dev Mahanta to look into the matter.
