TEZPUR: For the first time in experimental application of nano urea in agricultural fields through drones, the method was given a trial in Pakshiajhar village under Bindukuri Agricultural Development circle in the Sonitpur district.

The event was organized by Assam Agri business and Rural Transformation Project (APART), North East Regional Agricultural Machinery Training and Testing Institute under the Central Government, IFFCO and BCS in collaboration with Sonitpur district administration, District Agriculture Department, ICCOA and Majia farmer Producers' Company.

Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra, Director, North East Regional Agricultural Machinery Training and Testing Institute, Dr PP Rao, District Development Commissioner, Utpal Bora, Deputy General Manager, IFFCO, Ved Pal, District Agriculture officer, Pankaj Saikia and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

After the experimental application of nano urea in agricultural fields through drones, training was given to the farmers on this method. The drone, which can carry 10 litres of nano urea, can apply nano urea to three bighas of agricultural fields within 6 to 8 minutes. The drone will be available from January 2023 free of cost to agricultural science centres and 80 per cent discount to agricultural producer groups, said Dr PP Rao, Director, North East Regional Agricultural Machinery Training and Testing Institute.
