Extortionist Apprehended in Bagetar Area of Dima Hasao

Haflong: Based on reliable intelligence about extortion made by NSCN, a joint operation was launched on Tuesday night by the district police with 11 Assam Rifles in the Bagetar area where one NSCN (R) rebel named Hainamteung Newme (36), son of Ramsaung Newme of village P Paisa under Mahur Police Station in Dima Hasao, was apprehended.

A SIM card used for extortion was also seized. According to police, the accused admitted his crime and said that he had joined NSCN (IM) in 2008 and the NSCN (R) faction in 2014. Legal action is being taken.
