False complaint lodged against SSB personnel against illegal liquor trade

GUWAHATI: On the basis of information received (Intelligence Branch), 24 Bn SSB BOP Bihangapur at Laupara near Nagrijuli laid a naka (checkpoint). During the naka, a vehicle bearing registration number – AS-15AC-0985 (Blue Colour) was noticed and accordingly stopped and checked for contraband items as per information. However, nothing was found from the said vehicle and it was allowed to leave the spot after taking the name and address of the persons in the vehicle. A total of three persons were found to be present in the vehicle including Nikunja Das.

According to a press note, the SSB had made two seizures earlier from the house of Nikunja Das on February 2 and May 20 amounting to approximately Rs 11.5 lakh who is engaged in illegal trade of liquor both foreign and local. Moreover, a case had been registered by the Excise Department Mushalpur against him u/s 53(a) of Assam Excise Amendment Act-2018 vide case number 28/2020 dated 29-5-2020. In both the cases, Nikunja Das absconded. The SSB said that he has made a complaint to the local police outpost, Nagarjuli against SSB and also flashed news in the local media tarnishing the image of SSB which is totally false, malicious and baseless. He tried to tarnish the image of SSB for his personal gain, the press note said.
