Family Dispute Over Property Turns Violent in Hojai, Sibling Rivalry Take Ugly Turn

HOJAI: In a shocking incident that surfaced in Assam's Dobaka area, a man was grievously injured by his brother over a family dispute. The accused person Anowar Hossain attacked his brother over property disputes and this turned ugly when the argument crossed limits.

The family dispute between the two had turned violent as the people of Dobaka, Hojai woke up with shocking news.

According to the information provided by police sources, Anowar Hossain of the Pabijuri village allegedly attacked his elder brother with a sharp weapon, which the police identified as a sword on Tuesday. Accused Hossain also tried to attack and injure two of his nieces.

As per eyewitnesses who were mainly the neighbors and the local people around the vicinity, a property-related dispute had blown out of proportion and the issue has been going on in the family for some time. Yesterday, Anowar entered his brother's house with the motive to attack him and his family members.

Interestingly, the entire fiasco was recorded on a mobile phone, while the video has now gone viral on social media. According to the video, the accused is seen with a sword attacking the victim. While the injured was admitted to a local hospital, the police have booked a case against Hossain. Further details are awaited.

This is to be mentioned that, property-related disputes in rural Assam are on a steady rise and according to police reports, these confrontations have been known to escalate to bloody endings.

While the police are taking every possible measure to control the situation and bring the perpetrator to justice, the growing unrest amongst the people of the Pabijuri village under Dobaka in Assam is a major concern for maintaining law and order in the area.

It may be noted that the critically injured victim, according to the doctors is stable now and the police are waiting to register his statement in order to process the accused according to the law of the land.
