KASHMIR: In a horrifying incident during the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, a Hindu family from Silchar, Assam, narrowly escaped death. The family, residents of Shibali Park in Silchar, includes Professor Debasees Bhattacharya of Assam University, along with his wife and son.

The family tried to save themselves by hiding in a nearby jungle while the firing began. However, the terrorists found them and reportedly asked them to recite the Islamic kalima (dua). Fortunately, Professor Bhattacharya knew the words and recited them, which possibly saved the entire family from being harmed.

The incident has shocked many, raising questions about safety, religious identity, and the rising brutality of such attacks. In this case, it was fate—and presence of mind—that saved the family.

Meanwhile, in a decisive move following the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has announced a set of strong measures targeting Pakistan. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a press briefing, outlined the steps India will take in response to what has been described as one of the deadliest attacks since 2019.
