MANGALDAI: Hari Chandra Sarma, Administrative Officer in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Darrang, concluded his 37 years of sincere service with the highest degree of integration, honesty, devotion and commitment. He retired from service on March 31.

Known for his very soft-spoken nature and humble attitude, he had maintained a cool temperament even in the crucial periods. His expertise in handling administrative works made him successful. Starting his career as a Lower Division Assistant (rechristened as Junior Assistant) in the Election Branch in the erstwhile office of the Subdivisional Officer (Civil) at Mangaldai of Darrang district with its headquarters in Tezpur in 1982, he also rendered his sincere service in various Circle Offices and later served as the Confidential Assistant (CA) to the Deputy Commissioner for quite a long tenure.

However, due to ongoing countrywide lockdown and the visit of the Chief Minister to Mangaldai on the evening of March 31, no official farewell function could be organized. Yet a number of his well-wishers and friends and office bearers of various social organizations, while observing social distance, visited his residence at Gaonburhapara to give his a farewell.
