TEZPUR: The Sonitpur district chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized an intellectual meet on the new farm bills at the District Library auditorium on Monday. The programme was presided over by the party district president Tulsi Barthakur. Attending the programme, Tezpur MP and BJP State secretary Pallab Lochan Das spoke in detail about how the farmers would be benefited by the bills. Attending the event as a distinguished guest, Gautam Choudhury, Gauhati High Court lawyer, spoke about the farm bills. "A section of people is creating a misunderstanding about the bills. I urge those people not to present a vague picture without going deep into the issue. With the help of these bills, the business of people with vested interest will be destroyed and so they are howling unnecessarily," Choudhury said, adding that if would create new opportunities for the farmers. State BJP media panelist and AMTRON chairman Ritubaran Sarmah also spoke about the bills and urged people not to be misguided. In the programme, altogether 10 members from the Bengali Federation joined the BJP.
