The Fire and Emergency Services too has joined the battle. The fire stations in Udalguri district are supporting local bodies such as the Tangla Municipal Board and the municipal boards to disinfect public places as well as bylanes of residential areas.

“Fire tenders attached to the stations are currently engaged in spraying disinfectant on request from local bodies,” said an official of Tangla Fire and Emergency Services Station.

On Sunday, such sanitation works were conducted in places such as Babupara, Subhashpolly and Paulpara areas of Tangla town in Udalguri district. Fire brigades have also been used to distribute food to the homeless, stranded persons and street dogs.

“The water is mixed with bleaching powder and the cannon vehicles are used to disinfect the town as a precaution against COVID-19,” said Sankar Sarkar, vice-chairman of Tangla Municipal Board (TMB).
