First academic session of Dhubri Medical College commences

DHUBRI: The orientation day was held at Dhubri Medical College (DMC) on Wednesday. The classes of the first batch of 100 students will commence from November 17. The admission process of 100 students from different parts of the State was completed in this 9th medical college of the state recently.

The oath-taking programme of the students was held at the DMCH auditorium on Wednesday in presence of State Health Minister Keshav Mahanta, Rajya Sabha MP and the chairman of DMCH, Pabitra Margherita, along with top officials of the state health department and Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri, Dibakar Nath.

Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said, "It is a historic day as the classes of the medical college will start from 8AM tomorrow. The day is important not only for the health sector but also for the people of the district of Dhubri."

The minister also informed that the Centre would provide 15 more seats for the students whose admission process would be completed within November 22 this year and they would be able to resume classes. "I hope the batch of 100 students will pass with flying colours and serve the society and the nation," Mahanta said.
