DHEKIAJULI: In accordance with the directive of the central committee of Assam Press Correspondence Union (APCU), the first co-district committee was officially formed on Wednesday at Shaheed Nagari Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district. On this occasion, a general meeting was convened in which central committee General Secretary Sarat Hensowa, Central Publicity Secretary Dhiren Mahaliya, Sivasagar District Joint Secretary Samudra Bikash Gogoi, Bikas Gogoi from Charaideo district, and APCU Udalguri District President Nava Kumar Deka were present. The meeting was presided over by senior journalist, writer, and poet Sujit Kotoki.
Senior journalist Kalpajyoti Nath explained the objectives of the meeting. Prior to the formal proceedings, a tribute ceremony was held, where central Secretary Sarat Hensowa lit the ceremonial lamp and paid respects to APCU’s founding president Bhavesh Saikia and founding secretary Bhavesh Baruah. All members of the new sub-district committee were present at this solemn event. During the session, the attending members shared their views and expressed gratitude to APCU. Central Secretary Sarat Hensowa administered the oath to all new members.
The newly-formed APCU Dhekiajuli co-district committee was structured with President Sujit Kotoki, Executive President Tapan Sen Gupta, vice-presidents Sani Daimari and Pankaj Dev, Secretary Kalpajyoti Nath, joint secretaries Indrajit Sharma and Bhaskar Lahkar, Treasurer Pankaj Mahato, and Organizing Secretary Diganta Sharma.
In addition, senior journalist Dharani Keot was elected as a Central Executive Member. Executive members Amiya Haloi and Suresh Sharma, along with several other APCU office bearers, were also present at the event. At the end of the session, meritorious children of members who excelled in the recent HSLC and HS examinations, Dipanwita Daimari, Rikushmita Keot, Madhurya Mayukh Kotoky, and Sneha Sen Gupta, were felicitated with traditional Assamese Phulam Gamosa and congratulatory certificates.
