First batch of doctors, paramedical staff sent to institutional quarantine in Tezpur

TEZPUR: The first batch of doctors and health workers treating COVID-19 patients in the isolation ward of Tezpur Medical College and Hospital was sent to institutional quarantine in Tezpur on Sunday. As per ICMR guidelines, frontline workers, including doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and cleaning staff, are sent to mandatory quarantine of seven days after attending to COVID-19 positive patients for seven days. The first batch whose shift ended at 3 pm in the afternoon on Sunday, was sent to institutional quarantine facilities at various hotels in Tezpur after completing swab collection and other necessary procedures at TMCH by 4 pm.

On behalf of the Sonitpur district administration, Assistant Commissioner Antara Sen felicitated the batch of five with gamosas and packets of dry fruits. They were also felicitated by senior administrators of Tezpur Medical College and Hospital, including Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent Dr Karuna Hazarika, Superintendent Dr Madhab Chandra Rajbongshi, Dr. Jahanara Begum, among others.

The first batch includes Dr. Abhishek Joshi, doctor, Anita Ojha, staff nurse, ward boys Balakrishna Bhojal and Benu Thapa and cleaner Naba Nath. The second batch will be released after completing their shift at 11 PM in the night which includes Dr Pranjal Dutta, doctor, Anjali Deka, staff nurse, Ankur Hazarika, ward boy and Paresh Nath, cleaner. Another batch will be sent to 7-day institutional quarantine at 7 am in the morning which includes doctors Dr. Himatsingh Rathore and Dr Abinash Kaushik, Aparna Konwar, staff nurse, Antaram Tanti, ward boy and Hemanta Tanti, cleaner.
