First MBBS batch to be admitted in Nalbari Medical College in 2023: CM Himanta

NALBARI: "The first batch of MBBS students is likely to be admitted in Nalbari Medical College and Hospital in 2023," said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during an inspection of the construction of the medical college on Wednesday. He also said that by 2023, Nalbari Medical College will undergo inspection and the government is planning to open outdoor service by November- December, 2022.

By May or June, 2022, the government will start necessary procedures to appoint staff and doctors, he said. The Chief Minister, after inspection, said that already 75 per cent of construction had been completed. He added that Nalbari Medical College and Hospital will be able to accommodate 600 to 650 patients. It will also have ICU facilities.

Replying to the reporters' query, Sarma said that the government will construct a cancer hospital associated with the medical college and a 200- bedded maternal child hospital very soon. He announced that 100 MBBS students will be admitted in the first batch.
